DR. MICHAEL BIERIE
Dr. Michael Bierie was born and raised in Dubuque, Iowa, and is grateful to have had the opportunity to return home to serve his community. Dr. Mike received his D.D.S. from Creighton University School of Dentistry in 1995.
In order to gain more expertise, he completed a two-year residency at the University of Colorado.
After completing his residency, a unique opportunity was available to Dr. Mike—the privilege of joining his father, Dr. David Bierie, in his already established and successful practice. Since his return to Dubuque, Dr. Mike has thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to serve and give back to his community.
Dr. Mike is currently a member of the American Dental Association, the Iowa Dental Association, and the Dubuque District Dental Society. He has served as the President of the Dubuque District Dental Society, and as a Delegate for Dubuque County at the Iowa Dental Association annual meeting. He also participates in the Sealant Program coordinated by the Dubuque Visiting Nurse Association.
Dr. Mike remains dedicated to offering the best possible care for his patients and, in order to do so, remains avidly committed to continuing education courses. He has completed numerous studies with the Seattle Institute for Advanced Dental Education.
Outside of work, Dr. Mike enjoys spending time with his wife and their Siberian Husky. He enjoys all things outdoors, especially hiking, boating, and golf. In spite of his love of dentistry, Dr. Mike is also a passionate hockey fan and player.
DR. LUKE HEMANN
Dr. Luke Hemann grew up on his family’s cattle farm in Osage, Iowa, where he developed his strong work ethic early in life.
As a native Iowan, Dr. Luke has been a diehard (his own words) Iowa Hawkeye fan since birth. He grew up never missing a Hawkeye football game and never dreamed of going to college anywhere else. He graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in business management and a minor in chemistry.
Dr. Luke received his D.D.S. from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. While at Iowa, he received the National Award for Outstanding Student from the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain.
Dr. Luke joined the Bierie Dental team in 2012, and in March 2014, he
and his wife welcomed their first child, Collin, and in August 2017 welcomed their second child James. They enjoy spending time at Iowa football games and hanging out with their rescue dog, Charlie.
